Whether it be sudden drops, pirated choruses or catchy vocals, contemporary music is informed by a wide array of tricks to keep a listener hooked. Not ‘Dispersion EP’. After individual wanderings in Saint Petersburg and Seoul, Laurens Fraussen and Alexander Coenegrachts found themselves confined to their small town in Belgium. Out of this sudden pressure, clear-cut, honest deep listening gems were crafted that breathe a gloomy tension arc.

The cousins united as ‘freq444’, appearing at At Boiler Room x Ampere and weaving a liveset to make their audience sweat. DJ sets at Future Intel and Kiosk Radio paralleled the release of their 2021 'Lost Flight' EP. Their own label and event platform soon followed.

With a focus on discrete sound design and efficient breaks, the no•id ship is hitting Brussels with a much-needed fresh wind. At Saintklet, Pessimist (UVB-76) & Phanom kicked off a club series, slamming it until dawn with fierce and elegant club tunes.

The label will take off on 02.09.23 at Au Kalme, Brussels, facilitating a social experience where like-minded freaks can get together and love sound.

The EP opens with 'Ice', a slow-paced dance track, unraveling with balance into generous reverb and tinkling percussion. 'JW12' throws some killer kicks into the mix, accompanied by a sharp drums that firmly establishes the EP within bass culture. With 'OB565' a measured ecstasy of fleshed-out breaks takes over: with sudden timings and merciless pacing, this one will induce lip-biting rather than fist-pumping, never abandoning the duo’s strict commitment to subtlety in sound. 'First Contact' closes the B-side with a deep dive into gloomy, ambient sound design, grim wobbles and industrial, clanging breaks that will cause fire both on the dance floor, and in the hearts of audio nerds everywhere. Atmospheric, but never esoteric, ‘Dispersion’ is about to make waves.
